Mativ Commits to Full EUDR Compliance by December 30, 2025
Deforestation is a leading threat to biodiversity, climate resilience, and economic stability worldwide. Mativ and our portfolio of brands are committed to producing sustainable products and will comply with the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) when it becomes effective, which is currently anticipated to be on Tuesday, December 30, 2025.
In preparation for EUDR implementation, we are actively engaging stakeholders to proactively develop EUDR traceability, including integrating technological capabilities to support our suppliers and customers in their own compliance.
Below are answers to some frequently asked questions that our suppliers and customers may find helpful regarding EUDR.[1]
What is EUDR?
Regulation (EU) 2023/1115 (EUDR) is intended to combat the European Union’s contribution to deforestation and forest degradation. The EUDR attempts to ensure sustainable and deforestation-free production of commodities that have historically resulted in significant forest degradation, which include cattle, wood, cocoa, soy, palm oil, coffee, and rubber, as well as their derivative products.
Three conditions are required for impacted products to be sold in or exported from the EU:
- They are deforestation-free
- They have been produced in accordance with the relevant legislation of the country of production
- They are covered by a due diligence statement
For more information, please refer to the European Commission’s website regarding EUDR here.
What specific products are in-scope for EUDR?
A full list of impacted products is available in Annex I of the Regulation.
What is Mativ doing to support compliance with these requirements?
Mativ and our portfolio of brands have a rich history of environmental stewardship. Since 2017, we have purchased only FSC® Controlled Wood or Certified wood pulp, and all Mativ sites that process wood pulp hold FSC® Chain of Custody certification. We prioritize resilient materials, and 100% of the pulp we converted in 2024 was obtained from renewable sources. Review our latest ESG Report for more information about Mativ’s commitment to responsible and sustainable practices.
To support EUDR compliance, technical enhancements will provide our customers with traceability of impacted products, including required reference numbers and documentation. Automation will streamline this process, making Mativ an even stronger partner to help our customers build effective and sustainable supply chains.
