Julie Schertell

President and Chief Executive Officer

Julie Schertell is Mativ’s President and Chief Executive Officer and serves on its Board of Directors. Formerly President and Chief Executive Officer of Neenah, Inc., she has held numerous leadership positions within the company over the last 14 years, including Chief Operations Officer, Segment President of Technical Products and Fine Paper & Packaging, and Vice President and General Manager of Fine Paper & Packaging. 

Julie began her career at Georgia-Pacific in 1992 as a Financial Analyst for Consumer Products. While at Georgia-Pacific, she served in several roles over her 16-year career there, including Vice President of Sales and Marketing Strategy, Vice President of Supply Chain, Director of Sales Operations and Director of Financial Planning and Analysis. 

Julie graduated from Florida State University’s College of Business in 1991 with a BA in Accounting and received her MAcc degree from the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business in 1992. 

Julie is a member of the board of directors of the Ingersoll Rand Company and serves on the Metro Atlanta Chamber board as well as the Association of Nonwoven Fabrics Industry board. She is also a member of CEOs for Action & Diversity, and previously served on the Paper & Packaging Check-Off Board and National Paper Trade Association Board.

Christoph Stenzel

Group President, Filtration and Advanced Materials

Christoph Stenzel is Mativ’s Group President of Filtration and Advanced Materials. Previously, he served as Neenah Inc. Vice President for Global Filtration and General Manager for the Neenah Gessner GmbH.

Christoph spent almost than 20 years at Neenah, serving in multiple directorial and leadership roles. In 2003 he joined the Filtration Team as Sales Manager and developed markets around Asia and South America. Christoph was promoted in 2009 to a Director of Sales & Marketing and Director of the Strategic Business Units Filtration. In 2013, he became a Vice President and oversaw Filtration Gessner and was promoted in 2015 as a Vice President of Sales & Marketing of Global Filtration.

Christoph started his professional career at Henkel and Sihl before joining FiberMark-Gessner as an R&D manager for Masking Tape in 1998. He received a degree in Chemical engineering from the Fachhochschule Aachen.

Ryan Elwart

Group President, Sustainable & Adhesive Solutions

Ryan Elwart is the Sustainable and Adhesive Solutions Group President.

Ryan joined Mativ from Georgia-Pacific, where he most recently served as the Chief Customer Officer for the GP Consumer Products Group. In this position, he led a combined sales and commercial capability organization for the consumer business, including retail and B2B sales, eCommerce, training, customer planning, category management, and sales strategy for the company’s retail and commercial segments. Prior to Georgia Pacific, Ryan also held multiple sales positions at PepsiCo and Hormel Foods.

Ryan is a graduate of the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia.

Andrew Downard

Chief Supply Chain Officer

Andrew Downard

Andrew Downard is the Chief Supply Chain Officer at Mativ.

Andrew has successfully led Mativ’s global supply chain team since September 2022. Prior to joining Mativ, he served as the Senior Vice President of Supply Chain, Operations, and Analytics for Apex Tool Group. Other past roles have focused on improving operational execution for well-known consumer, industrial, and service brands.

Andrew’s experience includes being a supply chain research director with Gartner, as well as leadership positions with consumer products, food manufacturing, healthcare, medical services, chemical manufacturing, and aerospace manufacturing companies.

Andrew received his B.Sc. and Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Calgary, Canada.

Greg Weitzel

Chief Financial Officer

Greg Weitzel

Greg Weitzel is Mativ’s Chief Financial Officer, having formerly served as the company’s Vice President of Financial Planning & Analysis. He previously held the same role for Neenah, Inc., where he had leadership positions in corporate and business finance since 2013.

Prior to joining Neenah, Inc., Greg served in several leadership roles within Finance and Supply Chain for Georgia Pacific and Koch Industries over a span of nearly 20 years.

Greg graduated from Miami University’s Farmer School of Business in 1993 with a BS in Finance and Accounting and received his MBA from the University of Florida’s Warrington College of Business in 2000.

Mike Rickheim

Chief Human Resources and Communications Officer

Mike Rickheim is the Chief Human Resources and Communications Officer of Mativ.

He formerly served as the Chief Human Resources and Administrative Officer for Neenah, Inc. Prior to joining Neenah, Inc., in 2020, Mike served as the Chief Human Resources Officer for Newell Brands, a Fortune 250 consumer goods company. Before his promotion to Chief Human Resources Officer, he held various roles of increasing responsibility related to human resources business partnership, talent acquisition, talent development, employee engagement, inclusion and diversity and communications. He has also served on numerous Boards of Directors for a variety of non-profit organizations, including the Naismith Awards & Atlanta Tipoff Club, Atlanta Sports Council, The Newell Brands Foundation and the Direct Employers Association. 

A graduate of Bowling Green State University, Mike also completed the Modern Chief Human Resources Officer program at Cornell University’s School of Industrial & Labor Relations.

Mark Johnson

Chief Legal and Administrative Officer  

Mark Johnson is Mativ’s Chief Legal and Administrative Officer.

Prior to joining Mativ, Mark served as executive vice president, chief legal officer, and corporate secretary for Kimball International. He also served as president of Kimball International’s Hospitality business unit. He previously held leadership roles at Newell Brands and was a commercial litigation associate for McGuire Woods, LLP.

Mark graduated from Hampton University with a BS in Business Management and received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Michigan Law School.

Rajeev Kapur

Chief Information Officer

Rajeev Kapur is Mativ’s Chief Information Officer, having formerly served as the company’s Vice President of Digital Transformation and Business Intelligence.

Prior to joining Mativ in 2022, Rajeev was the Vice President of Commercial Transformation at Kimberly Clark. He previously served as Kimberly Clark’s first Chief Data Officer. Rajeev has also held multiple leadership roles at global brand organizations including Under Armor, Newell Brands, Nike Inc., and Lucent Technologies. 

Rajeev graduated from the University at Albany with his MBA in Information Systems in 1994. He also has a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. Further, Rajeev sits on the board of the Americas SAP User Group and serves on the Finance committee.
